About the event
Join us for an evening devoted to experiencing the oak as a keystone species whose generosity creates the conditions for 2,000 other creatures to flourish. We’ll begin with signature cocktails and a short walk among native oaks, looking closely at the relationships held within an oak woodland—from fungi, insects, birds, and mammals to plants, soil, water, and people.
We’ll then explore the oak as a material through a hands-on natural dyeing workshop, using its tannins and pigments to reveal some of the remarkable colors held within the tree.
As evening approaches, we’ll gather for a hearty apéro dînatoire created by Maria Finn and inspired by oaks and their ecology—with small dishes designed for eating, drinking, wandering, and conversation. Dishes like acorn polenta with caramelized onions and chanterelles, wild boar meatballs with herb pistou and heirloom squash and arugula salad with acorn dukkah will be featured paired with local wines.
